Crunchy pickled red onion

1 big red onion thinly sliced
1 cup brown sugar
1 cup red vine vinegar
few cloves
1 bay leaf

In a saucepan combine the vinegar, sugar and spices. Bring to a boil, simmer, until sugar is completely dissolved.
Put thinly sliced onions in sterilized jar and pour hot mixture over. Cool, refrigerate. Enjoy!
